Welcome to Eureka Charter Township

Our office is OPEN Monday thru Friday from 9 am to 1 pm.  Township officials are doing a combination of work from home and work in the office.  Please call first to see if the official you want to talk to is in the office that day.

Burn Permits in Eureka Charter Township

According to Eureka Charter Township Ordinance #25, you MUST have a burn permit to burn in the Township.  See rules and regulations in section 8 of Ordinance #25.  

Applications to burn are available on our website under Forms and in our office.  A burn application must be filled out and approved by the Zoning Administrator before you will get a permit number.  Once you have that number you MUST call Dispatch at 616-225-3500 to get final approval. Once that original form is on file, you can be issued a permit number good for 4 days at a time.  You may call or come in to get a new permit number each time you need to burn.

You do NOT need a burn permit if burning in a fire pit or burning barrel with a grate or cover.  If you have any questions, please contact Eureka Charter Township and ask to speak with the Zoning Administrator.

Public Hearing
Draft Zoning Ordinance #79

The Eureka Charter Township Planning Commission has scheduled a Public Hearing on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, 7:00 pm, at the Eureka Charter Township Hall, 9322 SW Greenville Road, to gain public comment on the review and updating with reorganization of the proposed Draft of Zoning Ordinance #79.

The proposed draft in its entirety is available for viewing on our website, www.eurekatownship.org under “Ordinances” or in our office. For more information, please contact the Zoning Administrator at the township hall at 616-754-5053 during business hours 9 am -1 pm, Monday – Thursday.  Written comments will also be received at the above address until the night of the hearing.

 

SPECIAL MEETING NOTICE
RE:  BALDWIN LAKE SEWER SYSTEM

The Eureka Charter Township Board has scheduled a Public Meeting on Monday, May 24, 2021, 7:00 pm, at the Eureka Charter Township Hall, 9322 SW Greenville Rd.

This meeting will be held for Eureka Charter Township residents utilizing the City of Greenville's sewer system.  The Agreement between the City of Greenville and Eureka Charter Township will be discussed.  Affected residents are encouraged to attend and receive information.

Eureka Charter Township residents affected by this system will receive a letter outlining the Agreement.  For additional information, please contact the Supervisor at the township hall at 616-754-5053 during business hours 9 am -1 pm, Monday – Thursday.  Written comments will also be received at the above address until the night of the hearing.
 

NOTICE REGARDING CEMETERY CLEAN UP

Our Cemetery Bylaws state that "the Township and Sexton have the right to remove and dispose of any and all growth, emblems, displays or containers  that have become unsightly or a maintenance problem.  All refuse of any kind or nature including, dried flowers, wreaths, papers, and flower containers must be removed."

Please have the above mentioned items removed by April 20, 2021.  After that date, those items will be removed.

 

Public Hearing
Zoning Board of Appeals

The Eureka Charter Township Zoning Board of Appeals has scheduled a Public Hearing on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, 7:00 pm, at the Eureka Charter Township Hall, 9322 SW Greenville Road. 

This meeting will be held to hear the zoning appeal from Jeff & Susan Knill regarding a request for front yard setback adjustment to accommodate the building of a third stall addition to current garage.  The property is on a corner lot which calls for two front yard 35 ft setback requirements.
